Shanaya Ahamed

I am Shanaya, and becoming Head Girl was definitely not something I expected. It was something I had wanted for years, but when it actually happened, it was such a big surprise.

I first started thinking about leadership when I was in primary school. I remember watching the older students take on leadership roles and thinking, "I want to be in their position one day." I admired their confidence, involvement, and the presence they had within the school.

A few years later, it feels surreal to actually be the person I once looked up to. Being Head Girl comes with a lot of responsibility, but I am genuinely so excited for what's ahead.

To me, being a good leader isn't about being the loudest person in the room or simply having a title. It is about being approachable, listening to others, making people feel comfortable speaking up, and being fair to everyone.

I want to bring kindness, equality, and fairness into the way I lead and, most importantly, make sure every student feels heard and represented. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity, especially knowing it is something I have dreamed about since I was younger. Here's to an exciting year ahead, and I can't wait to make the most of it.

I am not going to promise that I can fix everything, but I can promise that I will listen. If students have ideas, concerns, or things they want to see change, I want to hear them. I think the best way to represent people is to actually understand what they want.

Most importantly, I want to make the most of this year. There's a lot ahead of us, and I am looking forward to being part of it—the events, the challenges, and everything in between.
