Lindsey Ann Yarwood
Head of Primary
With over 23 years of experience in education, including more than two decades in leadership, I am a passionate and dedicated educational leader committed to ensuring every child receives an exceptional education and the opportunity to thrive.
Originally from a small town in the UK, I began my career in education before gaining valuable experience working in London. In 2011, I made the move to the UAE, where I have continued to develop my leadership experience and passion for education within the international school community. I hold the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers (NPQH), reflecting my commitment to continuous professional growth and excellence in educational leadership. I have been part of Cambridge International School since 2016 and am incredibly proud to be part of a school community to which I have developed such a deep sense of commitment and belonging. As Head of Primary, I lead the education and development of children from FS1 through to Year 6, working closely with staff, pupils and families to create a nurturing, ambitious and inclusive environment where every child can flourish.
I lead the school’s work in Teaching and Learning and Professional Development, with a particular passion for developing teachers and ensuring that learning is purposeful, engaging and meaningful for every child. I believe that exceptional teaching has the power to inspire curiosity, build confidence and create a lifelong love of learning. I am passionate about creating classrooms where children are excited to learn, encouraged to think deeply and supported to become confident, independent learners.
As a GEMS Excellence Fellow, I also have the opportunity to work collaboratively across the wider GEMS network, sharing my expertise and supporting schools to strengthen teaching and learning and ensure the highest quality of education for all students. My leadership is rooted in passion, integrity, empathy and dedication. I believe strongly in the power of relationships and in creating a culture where children, staff and families feel valued, supported and empowered to achieve their very best. For me, successful leadership is about listening, building trust, developing others and keeping children at the heart of every decision.
Above all, I am passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of children and the wider school community. I am committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued and given the opportunity to succeed, while creating a school experience filled with meaningful learning, memorable moments and a genuine love of learning.
