Sandhya Menon

Career Counselor & ELL Coordinator

My name is Sandhya Madhusudhana Menon, I am currently the English as an Additional Language (EAL) Coordinator and senior school English teacher at CIS. Equipped with a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Education in English, in April 2004, I marked the beginning of my teaching career at The Indian High School, Dubai. I was blessed to work with a teacher, who had taught me as a child in school. The Indian High School, Dubai where I also did my schooling was undoubtedly the most important part of my life, this is where I realized how as teachers we have an influencing role in the life of every student. Teachers are like beacons of light, guiding students through the formative years of their life. It is here that I began to believe that teachers mold students and in the process shape their future. What we learn from our teachers remains with us, throughout our lives.  My journey at CIS began in March 2010 as the Middle School English Faculty leader and I was also given the responsibility of senior school English Teacher. It was a major turning point in my career. Here I learned that leadership is about empowering others and helping each other grow into independent performers. CIS is where I began to believe in myself, I ensured that I led by example and was adaptable to change. In the 14 years of my teaching career, I have also had the opportunity to work at Ambassador School, Mankool for 3 years. I rejoined CIS in November 2016. I strongly believe that each child is unique and possesses innate talents. Education is not just academics. It is a harmonious blend of curricular, co-curricular activities and aesthetics. Today I can proudly say that I have had the opportunity to teach a thousand students but with pride and satisfaction I would like to say that I have touched the lives of a significant number of students and have helped them in whatever way possible to carve a niche in this diverse world and most importantly be better human beings.
