Pastoral Care

At Cambridge International School,

CIS Pastoral Care

students are given a well-rounded education that focuses on building their confidence and self-discipline. Our pastoral programme is underlined by a child-centred approach that nurtures the individual abilities of each child, motivating students to utilize their own initiative and innovation and to actively participate in the learning process.

Our students are provided with various opportunities to equip them with all the skills required in a challenging and changing world. The Student Council Body and the Prefectorial Body of our school provides a platform to students to develop effective leadership and team work skills that are underpinned by the four core values.

Cambridge Student Council
The Student Body within the Cambridge International School is given a momentous platform to communicate with the Senior Leadership Team through a Council created of fourteen members.

The members of the Student Council are chosen on the premises of votes cast by the students themselves from each Year Group. The Student Council of 14 members is endowed with a momentous platform to perform various roles to effectively communicate student’s concern to the Senior Leadership Team.

The Student Council Members play an active role of polling for opinions from their respective Year Groups and notify the Senior Leadership Team if there are any serious issues that need to be addressed.

To date, the Cambridge Student Council has been successful in achieving goals, amongst which are:

The renovation of changing rooms
The Rugby Team initiated by the P.E. department, and the inclusion of it in the syllabus.
The installation of better Bathroom fittings.
The provision of a more varied menu at the Canteen.
Launching the School Year Book Project.
Pressing for more diverse choices for School trips.

The Cambridge Student Council plays a significant role within the School Body, conveying issues of particular concern and plans for further change to complement the values of this School; that of a healthy conductive learning environment.

School Prefectorial Body
Our school further aims to strengthen the communication link between staff and students through the school’s Prefectorial Body. The members are nominated by Previous Years Prefects/ HOYs in consultation with the Supervisor/Asst. Principal.

The Head Boy/ Girl and Deputy Head Boy/ Girl head the prefectorial body. They assist HODs in the department activities as well as staff in charge of the discipline of students during the break times, in bus areas and at gates at the end of school etc.

Form Tutors appoint a monitor in all classes from Kindergarten upwards and a House leader from each Form in Years 7, 8 & 9.
